About

On 12 October 2026, the European Privacy KnowledgeNet returns to Munich.

Privacy professionals from across Europe will come together for a full day of practical insights, different perspectives and meaningful conversations around data protection, privacy governance and digital responsibility.

Organised by the IAPP KnowledgeNet community, the event brings together in-house privacy professionals, regulators, legal experts, consultants and the next generation of privacy leaders.

Our Story

European Privacy KnowledgeNet began in 2024, when the IAPP retired its Data Protection Intensive events in Germany, the Netherlands and France. The demand those events had served didn’t disappear — so around ten IAPP KnowledgeNet chapters decided to build a community-led successor themselves: bigger than a normal local chapter meetup, smaller and more practical than a major conference, and most important: free to attend.

That mission hasn’t changed since: connect professionals across Europe to discuss data protection, privacy, AI governance and cybersecurity as one connected conversation rather than separate disciplines — in short, Connect · Share · Learn · Protect.

What makes EPN different is that it is European, volunteer-run, and free to attend with very limited sponsoring (IAPP Community Rules), deliberately mixing different topics and backgrounds. It’s a meeting designed by experts for experts across the different domains.

Expect
  • Practical sessions and expert discussions
  • Perspectives from across Europe
  • Open exchange beyond traditional conference formats
  • Plenty of opportunities to connect with the community
Frequently asked questions
When and where is the next event?
12 October 2026 at ADAC Headquarters in Munich, for the full day. See the Venue page for details.
Who should attend?
In-house professionals, regulators, legal experts, consultants, academics and the next generation of privacy leaders — anyone working on privacy, data protection, AI governance, or cybersecurity.
Who is organizing it?
European Privacy KnowledgeNet is organised by the IAPP KnowledgeNet community, hosted by the IAPP Munich KnowledgeNet chapter.
How do I register?
Attendance is free. See the Sign Up page for the latest on registration.
Is EPNK really free to attend?
Yes. Thanks to volunteer organisation and in-kind support from host venues and IAPP chapters, there’s no attendee fee.
How is EPNK organised and funded?
EPNK is run entirely by volunteers across IAPP KnowledgeNet chapters. Costs like the venue and logistics are covered through in-kind support from host organisations rather than by charging attendees — and that support covers logistics. It’s not “pay to play”: the programme is put together through a session review process, independent of who is or isn’t supporting the event that year.
Can my organisation host, sponsor or get involved?
Get in touch at hello@privacynetwork.eu or through your local IAPP KnowledgeNet chapter. Note that support covers costs, not programme content or speaking slots — sessions are selected on their own merits.
